2007 Awards for Excellence
Best Bank in Jamaica and The Bahamas Award

FirstCaribbean has won two “Best Bank” Awards from Euromoney magazine for its operations in Jamaica and The Bahamas.

The Awards, bestowed on FirstCaribbean by Euromoney Latin America, placed FirstCaribbean among leading banks in 20 countries across Latin America who were singled out for honour.

According to Euromoney, the Awards “recognize institutions and individuals that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and momentum in the markets in which they excel.”

FirstCaribbean’s operations in The Cayman Islands, The Bahamas and Jamaica were each awarded a “Bracken Award”. These are bestowed each year on the financial institutions considered by the Financial Times’ Banker Magazine as the best banks in the world.

Best Banks 2007 Award

FirstCaribbean International Bank is once again recognized as one of the Best Emerging Banks in Latin America by Global Finance Magazine for the fourth year running. FirstCaribbean has received the title of Best Bank in Barbados, and for the first time it has copped the award in Jamaica.

Global Finance’s 14th annual survey of top banking performers in emerging markets, named those banks that are consistently providing high levels of service in often-tumultuous markets.

“Deal of the Year” Award

Awarded: May 2, 2007

FirstCaribbean Capital Markets was awarded the “Deal of the Year Trinidad & Tobago” title for 2007 by The Banker magazine and the Financial Times Group. This is the first time it has been awarded to FirstCaribbean. In addition, this year marks the first time the honour has been presented to financial institutions in the Caribbean region.

Capital Markets received the award for the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad & Tobago (UDECOTT) short-term financing facility completed in 2006.

“Deal of the Year” titles for 2007 were awarded to financial institutions in 60 countries across the globe from a pool of 650 applicants. Judging criteria for the honour range from speed of deal execution and customer service quality.

Capital Markets continues to raise US$ hundreds of millions in debt capital for governments, state-owned enterprises and private and public companies. In addition to debt underwriting and structured project finance, the unit’s product and service suite includes Equity Underwriting, Syndicated Loans and Structured Finance offerings.

The Banker Magazine, which is a publication of the Financial Times, awarded FirstCaribbean the Bracken Awards for Best Bank in Jamaica and The Bahamas. Banks are judged on their financial performance, initiatives in the market for the year, and return to their shareholders.

Best Bank in Barbados Award

For the first time in its 37-year history, Euromoney Magazine conferred its Best Bank Award of Excellence on a Pan-Caribbean bank, ranking FirstCaribbean among the most outstanding financial institutions in the Americas.

Every month, the experienced journalists of Euromoney magazine give an authoritative round up of the key developments in debt, structured credit, equity, fund management, corporate finance, foreign exchange, and regional markets including Asia, Latin America, and EMEA.

FirstCaribbean which won the Best Bank in Barbados Award was featured in the July edition, which was mainly dedicated to the Awards for Excellence.

2006 Best Practices Award

Awarded: December 12, 2006

FirstCaribbean’s website, www.firstcaribbeanbank.com, was awarded the "JSE Best Practices Website" award from the Jamaican Stock Exchange. According to the JSE, this award is intended "to encourage listed companies to raise the quality and the efficiency of the dissemination of information to the investing public via the website".

The criteria for the award are:
1. Content of Website (30 points)
2. Usability (15) points
3. Interactivity/Innovativeness (20 points)
4. Presentation style (25 points)
5. Functionality (10 points)

Global Finance Magazine
2005 Best Bank Award

Awarded: October 10, 2005

The award, which the bank received for the second year in a row, was presented by Global Finance magazine after its 12th annual survey.

The award was particularly driven by the innovation FirstCaribbean has displayed in regional projects such as its pan-Caribbean launch of Internet and Telephone Banking earlier that year, and for being the first Caribbean bank to complete a debt issue in the European money markets.
